1. JAPANESE TORTOISE-SHELL B &
8-HOLE BIND
It was hard to saw this book together due to the thickness of the paper and additional acetate pages. The spine is a prominent and decorative element of the book. The cover is wrapped with the laser printout, buckram cloth and cotton thread. The cover has hinges on both sides and it's wrapped around the pages, like in perfect bind. The box was also covered with water-resistant buckram cloth. Unfortunately, it turns out a bit too tight.
This book has an open spine and a cover with hinges on both sides. It's sawn together with traditional Japanese bind. With this type of bind, the numbers of holes can be added to make the book stronger. The slipcase box is painted inside and covered in metallic buckram cloth. This copy has no acetate pages. It was printed on 140gsm white laser inkjet paper.
2. PERFECT BIND
This book was printed on 120gsm white laser printer paper. The colour set up turned out a bit too dark on some of the images. I decided to put it together regardless of that. The box for this book was easier to make because it resembles a hardback cover, which I practised many times. To add to the book, there is an original A2 screenprint, which was a starting point for the story I developed. I produced 15 of those screen prints. I would like to sell them as a limited edition with handmade books.
This is fourth and final copy of the book so far. I'm very pleased with the way I made it.
The cover is a screen-printed labyrinth image on buckram cloth.
It's printed on a laser printer on 120gsm white paper. It has the most number of acetate pages. It needs a box which I'm planning to make soon.
3. LULU.COM MOCKUPS
2 copies of 'BLUE' ordered from self-publishing website Lulu.com.
I'm pleased with the colours and paper for the price I paid. Unfortunately, there were files with too big transparency, resulting in faulty prints. I fixed the problem since and I'm planning to order 20 copies of the book.
