JAPANESE TORTOISE-SHELL B &  8-HOLE BIND It was hard to saw this book together due to the thickness of the paper and additional acetate pages. The spine is a prominent and decorative element of the book. The cover is wrapped with the laser printout, buckram cloth and cotton thread. The cover has hinges on both sides and it's wrapped around the pages, like in perfect bind. The box was also covered with water-resistant buckram cloth. Unfortunately, it turns out a bit too tight.    This book has an open spine and a cover with hinges on both sides. It's sawn together with traditional Japanese bind. With this type of bind, the numbers of holes can be added to make the book stronger. The slipcase box is painted inside and covered in metallic buckram cloth. This copy has no acetate pages. 1. BOOK COVERS. The practice resulted in many errors and mistakes, ripped papers and wrong sizing.  Some of the covers below can be used as an experiment with pop-up pages in the future.  Some of them turned out wrong and uneven, but a good exercise in bookmaking.  2.MOCKUPS A few mockups were created trying out different layouts, binding methods, paperweight and colours.  I tried two types of Japanese binding, 4-hole and tortoise-shell bind, which I adapted to my preferences by adding more holes. I also tried a bookbinding machine to glue one mockup. It turned out to week for some reason.   Tortoise-shell bind 14-hole bind Bookbinding machine where I glued additional masking tape on the top. Experimentation of how eyes and mind interplay between sequentiality and page layouts. The work includes practitioners of abstracted comics from Noth America, Switzerland, Great Britain, France, and New Zealand.  Abstract Comics: The Blog: "Universe A": a sequence  [Accessed 15.02.21] 'Universe A': a sequence by Andrei Molotiu, who is an art historian and abstract-comics creator, looks conceptual in its style and subject. I haven't seen the entire work but these elements explore abstract comics, and 'comics poetry' layouts in the best way possible.
